A seemingly traditional property owner with a focus on public properties is now taking giant steps in its digitalization journey. Hemsö is modernizing its entire Swedish portfolio - including maintenance cabinets that unlocks with a smartphone.

It's called Hemsö Hubben: the project aims to fix an inconsistent digital infrastructure in the real estate company's portfolio, where each property previously had its own system for ventilation and heating, for example. 

"Now we are creating a standard for systems in our properties and thus laying a solid digital foundation for future innovations," says Jens Larsson, technology developer at Hemsö. "Techstar IT and Parakey are two important partners in the project."

Techstar IT provides a complete maintenance cabinet to Hemsö, with Parakey Cylinder installed even before delivery.

Why is Parakey Cylinder perfect for the maintenance cabinets?

"The existing mechanical lock cylinder is easily replaced with Parakey's digital cylinder to, as Erik says, enable a secure, efficient and digital access management. The location of the cabinets, where it is critical to always be able to unlock without an internet connection, also makes Parakey's offline solution a safe and robust choice, "says Peter Wegdell, responsible salesman at Parakey.

By "offline solution", Peter means that Parakey's physical devices are not connected to the internet and that the Parakey app does not require a connection at the time of unlocking. Instead, unlocking is done securely via encrypted Bluetooth.

"It is a very agile, secure and scalable solution that fits perfectly in our ambitious roll-out plan to ensure a modern real estate management of our properties," concludes Jens Larsson. 

About 350 properties in Sweden will be digitized, with at least one cabinet in each property and the first ones are already up. Parakey is very much looking forward to continuing to assist in the digitization of maintenance cabinets around the country, on this innovative journey and many more.
