Even more sustainable buildings with the smartphone as key
In 2019, the construction and real estate sector accounted for 21% of Sweden's greenhouse gas emissions (Boverket). How can the introduction of mobile access contribute to reducing the industry's environmental impact?
Fastighetsägarna describes environmental sustainability in the real estate industry with, for example, "low environmental impact in new production" and "low emissions from management and transportation to properties". They also write on their website that "without economic sustainability, it is not possible to take long-term social and environmental responsibility". How then can the use of mobile access from Parakey contribute to a lower environmental impact, lower emissions and saved resources?
Environmental sustainability with the key in the smartphone
With the key in the smartphone , we can eliminate the production and transportation of plastic access cards and fobs . In addition, the physical handing out of keys for both move-in and service issues is also eliminated, which reduces the time spent by operating technicians and other employees in cars. In this way, we save not only the earth's resources, but also the time of employees and companies. Our customer Revelop, for example, estimates that up to 40% of their service technicians' time has historically been spent managing traditional solutions such as physical keys, access cards and fobs.
The sooner mobile access is implemented, the better for the environment. In older properties where you may have switched from a traditional access control system to another not long ago, there is an opportunity to modernize the existing system and reuse the infrastructure already in place at place - with our latest addition, Parakey Slim, also taking cost-effective mobile access to a new level.
Economic sustainability with mobile access
Our professional digital lock Parakey PDL is certified to withstand at least 200,000 openings, i.e. 30 years in an apartment door. The lock is powered by wired power or battery, with the battery life lasting up to 30,000 openings. An affordable passage solution that is used over a long period of time.
All Parakey devices (Parakey PDL, Parakey Control Unit and Parakey Slim) use Bluetooth to implement a door opening, which increases robustness enormously compared to solutions that require connectivity. In addition, costs are reduced, especially for larger installations, by not having to provide internet connectivity to all doors.
Summary: 3 ways that mobile access contributes to sustainability
- Eliminates the production and transportation of access cards and fobs
- Reduced transport related to moving in and service issues
- Saves time, resources and costs
