Setting demands for digital locks - #2.2 Interface and administration combinations

#2.1 Administration of digital locks
Thisfollow up article to part 2.1 (link) provides examples and recommendations for setting requirements for large-scale mobile access management.
When digital locks are introduced commercially and on a larger scale, it is usually desirable to be able to combine different interfaces and ways of administering mobile keys through both centralized and distributed administration (Read the previous article for explanation). At present, there are a few suppliers offering this, of which Parakey is one of them. In other cases, there is the need to combine different services, suppliers and even self-development in order to get the same functionality.
The following are examples of how three of Parakey's customer types require and use mobile access already today;
β
Commercial real estate
The commercial property's perimeter protection and garages are equipped with Parakey but often also the tenants' premises. The property owner owns all equipment and distributes administration to the commercial tenants and contractors. Administration takes place in different ways;
- The property owner uses Parakey Web Portal to distribute administrative rights to tenants and contractors. Centralized administration is used for the internal staff of the property owner so that these employees can enter the property owner's portfolio .
β - Commercial tenants have been given the opportunity to manage their own staff's access via the web portal, both to a subset of the shelter's doors and to their own office.
The property owner has placed restrictions on the number of users the tenants can invite and only sees access logs for the shelter.
β. - The contractor who operates the garage has been given access to administer the garage and manage these operations. access allocation takes place automatically via an integration for the parkers who rent a garage space.
β
Apartment buildings
The property owner equips all doors with Parakey, both perimeter protection, common areas and garages as well as apartment doors and technical rooms. As for the commercial property, the administration is handled in different ways depending on the area of application;
- The property owner uses the web portal and centralized administration in the same way as in the commercial property.
The property owner also uses integrations between Parakey and a booking system for laundry rooms as well as common rooms and overnight apartments. The property owner has the possibility to charge a booking fee if desired.
β - The apartment owner has the possibility to unlock both the apartment door and other spaces that it has gained access to. Through a "Share Key" feature in the app, the apartment owner administers mobile keys to their family members and guests, however, with a maximum cap on the number of mobile keys to avoid abuse.
ββ - The entrance contractor who operates the garage has, as in the commercial property, been given access to administer the garage and manage these operations. Here, too, access allocation takes place via an integration with a business system.
β
Coworking
Coworking facilities have a great need to streamline and automate key management for their many members. Parakey is installed in the street entrance of the property, perimeter protection to the facility, conference rooms and any private offices on the inside of the coworking facility.
There are great similarities between coworking and apartment buildings where centralized administration for all members is managed via web portal or via integrations to both booking and ERP systems that automate key management.Β
In cases where establishments rent out smaller private offices, they allow members to manage their employees in the app, unless this is done automatically via integration with a coworking business system.

Requirements - access management and administration
As a summary, in the table below you will find the recommendations we at Parakey give about what functionality you should include in your requirements for digital locks for different uses.

access management on autopilot via integrations
In the next article in the series, we dig deeper into how digital locks connect with other products and services to automate access management and realize entirely new business models.Β
