You can now unlock doors with fob and access cards in Parakey

the smartphone, a fob , or an access card. Now you have more ways to unlock with Parakey. We’re launching support for fobs and access cards in the Parakey Cylinder and Parakey Door Handle, with programming directly in the smartphone and centralized management in the Parakey web portal.
Welove the smartphone as a key! Being able to grant someone access without first handing over a physical key makes a big difference in everyday life. But even when the smartphone is the obvious choice, certain situations may require a fob or an access card.
As Parakey expands into new markets, including Southern Europe, we encounter businesses with different needs and ways of working. Interest in mobile solutions is one of the driving factors, while fobs and access cards still play an important role in everyday life in certain cases. By offering multiple options, more people can make the transition to mobile access at their own pace.
That’s why we’re now offering fobs and access cards— place —in Parakey. Whether in the office, in a building, or at a coworking space, it will be possible to combine the benefits of a mobile device with fobs and access cards for those who need them.
the smartphone is your tag reader
Getting started with fobs should be easy, even for those who manage them. You program the tag directly in the Parakey app by holding it up to your phone’s NFC reader. You don’t need a USB reader connected to a computer or any other separate equipment. The same applies to access cards.
Once the tag has been programmed, you can manage its access permissions for the doors in the Parakey web portal. This is where you centralize the administration of mobile keys, fobs , and access cards. As an administrator, you’ll have more ways to grant access all within the same tool.
Mobile and fob work together
the smartphone s also plays an important role behind the actual unlocking process. The Parakey Cylinder and Parakey Door Handle operate offline, without their own internet connection.
When an authorized user unlocks the door using the Parakey app, the smartphone sends authorization updates to the lock and can retrieve logs at the same time. This happens automatically in the background when the door is unlocked.
This is how changes made through the web portal reach each lock: via the mobile unlocking functions available there. The the smartphone does more than just unlock the door for the person holding it. It also helps the lock keep the access permissions for fobs and access cards up to date.

fobs s and access cards are also subject to strict security requirements
When we supplement the smartphone with fobs and access cards, security is one of the most important factors in our choice of technology. That is why we have chosen MIFARE DESFire EV2 and EV3, chip technology developed for applications with high security requirements. The technology supports AES-128 encryption and mutual authentication, which allows the tag and reader to control each other’s authenticity. The chip’s hardware and software are security-certified according to Common Criteria EAL5+.
If you want to make your choice easy, you can order compatible fobs and access cards directly from us. You can also purchase them from other suppliers. In that case, choose blank fobs or access cards with DESFire EV2 or EV3 technology.
