Why did Studentbostäder i Norden chose mobile access from Parakey?
Magnus Jägre, Studentbostäder i Norden AB (SBS) and Peter Wegdell, Parakey
Studentbostäder i Norden AB (SBS) is now aiming to digitize all the doors in its portfolio with mobile keys. The company is doing this by signing a framework agreement with Swedish PropTech company Parakey. SBS is a student housing company that owns, manages and develops student housing. Magnus Jägre, Head of Sustainability and Innovation at SBS tells us more about the new collaboration in an interview.
Why is SBS introducing mobile access?
We believe in finding new solutions to make life easier for our students. Access and key handover is a big part of our customer journey that we want to optimize. By digitizing this part of our management, we create a better accommodation experience for our students. We aim to manage 10,000 student apartments by 2025 - so these digitization solutions need to be in place now.
Why was Parakey chosen?
Parakey is just the right partner and supplier for us in the digital transition. Since the company is the market leader in mobile access, they have the experience, capacity, product and service we are looking for.
What is the roll-out plan?
Before of the start of term this autumn, SBS installed Parakey on just over 200 apartment doors in one of the company's newly built properties in Karlstad. This is phase 1 of the project and when phase 2 is completed next year, a total of 400 apartment doors will have access to mobile access. In Stockholm Spånga, where we are building 1,043 student apartments, mobile access will also be implemented on the doors.
In a next step, Parakey will be integrated with the SBS housing app from Avy-Tmpl. How will the integration create value for students?
We see and follow the general trend that the whole society is moving towards where almost everything can be done via the mobile phone. And soon we will be there. By integrating Parakey and the Avy-Tmpl housing app, we're one step closer to an even more seamless and smooth housing experience. Among other things, our tenants will be able to book the laundry room via the housing app and then have mobile access linked to the booking.
What cost savings do you see with mobile access?
The biggest saving is that the administration of access management disappears. This saves both the company's resources and climate resources in the form of reduced production materials and transportation in connection with key issuance. Another important aspect is security, which increases when we do not risk cases of lost or copied keys. This provides enormous value, both for our tenants and for us as a company.
Through the framework agreement, Parakey will be implemented in all of SBS property portfolios in the Swedish market.
