Both our professional digital lock, Parakey PDL, and our control unit, Parakey Control Unit, are offline, which means that door opening does not take place via the internet but via Bluetooth. The devices are prepared to be connected, but neither our customers nor we see the need for this today. In this blog post, we explain why an unconnected device and door environment is the most secure, reliable and robust choice for mobile access.

1. Not dependent on the internet

With the right (mobile) access, you should always be able to get in - even if you do not have an internet connection at the time of opening, which may be the case in a garage, for example, or if your mobile internet connection has simply run out. However, a digital lock or door environment should not be dependent on a connection in order to function.

Opening a Parakey-enriched door is instead done offline via Bluetooth and with the highest security. All communication is two-way encrypted, in addition, unique opening messages are used, making them impossible to reuse.

2. Increased safety and reliability

The fact that the door environment is not exposed to the internet also increases protection against intrusion attempts and thus also the security of properties and our customers.

To open a Parakey-enriched door, you must be at the current door when requesting opening in the app. For safety reasons, it is not possible to open remotely, which ensures that only authorised persons come in, to the delight of insurance companies.

3. Lower investment costs

Furthermore, the offline location of Parakey's hardware and door environments means that no investment is required in additional hardware to build infrastructure, minimizing time for both installation and maintenance as well as material purchases.

4. access management online

Unlock offline, manage mobile keys online. The hardware and the door environment do not need to be connected to the internet for mobile keys to be managed online via computer, tablet or mobile phone (user-friendly admin interface promised!).
